It chronicles popular and youth culture in the subcontinent from the mid-twentieth century to the contemporary era dominated by creative audio-video-digital outlets. In the last few years its popularity has come down immensely due to lack of promotion, availability and storyline.This pioneering book presents a history and ethnography of adventure comic books for young people in India with a particular focus on vernacular superheroism. They used to publish comics using the same artists and writers in both the comic series. Not to be confused, Raj comics and King comics were two divisions of Raja Pocket Books. After that, some heroes of King comics like Gamraj were merged in Raj comics.

Raj Comics is an Indian comic book line published by a division of Raja Pocket Books.Affectionately called 'The Home Of Indian Superhero Comics' by the fan press, Raj Comics' best-known characters include Nagraj, Super Commando Dhruva, Doga, Parmanu, Shakti, Bheriya, Bhokal, Anthony, Fighter Toads, Bankelal, Yoddha and Super Indian.
